This post is all about motivating you to accomplish your goals even when life gets hard.
Hey, loves. I am checking in to see how you are doing and to write down how I feel. It’s January 31, 2025. I don’t know what it is about January, but this year is starting a bit underwhelming.
And if you don’t know what I’m referring to, let’s list a few things in the news… supposed “Tik tok ban and rescue,” billionaires running the US, laws that affect people who look a certain way, misinformation on social media, insane housing and grocery prices and tragedies.
I’m not the only one, but sometimes, I’ve had to disconnect from the news. Take a little time to be oblivious to what’s going on because it was bringing up anxiety. Anxiety over things that I could not change. Even scrolling on TikTok has become less pleasurable because I am constantly reminded of how much of a sh*% show we are living in. I continuously see people screaming to get your passport, start growing your food, or boycott several stores-that deserves a whole other post! I must admit that the algorithm has changed since the ban occurred for a day. (This is something else that deserves a separate post, but I’ve digressed, so let me get back to my reason for this post!)
Because I am getting older, I am paying more attention to politics and how changing laws can impact my children or even my ability to provide sufficiently for them. Often, I wonder if I was selfish in bringing them into a world like this, but when we decided to start our family, I wasn’t thinking about the status of the world or just how bad it could be. I was looking at my life just beginning and checking off all the wonderful experiences I wanted and the love I had to share. When I think this, I immediately realize I have let fear take over.
Often, we can let these outside things upset us and stop us from pursuing our plans for ourselves. It’s a new year. Which means you want to do things even better. But the world’s stress can stop that or make you feel like your dreams won’t come true because things are in bad shape, which seems to be all around us.
Let me give you some hope, especially if you are a believer in God. You must remember that it is not Republicans or Democrats, or billionaires in control. No matter how many laws are changed, opportunities that are taken away, or attempts to make black people and minorities feel less than, hate won’t succeed.
Look at your life now and consider everything you must be grateful for. Think about your family and enjoy them. Release the fear that the news and social media stories impose on your mindset. Continue to attract the things you want in life and speak life and opportunities into your children’s lives.
A few days after I wrote this post I was reading Our Daily Bread, and the scripture of the day was Psalm 31:8, “You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.” Remember when the walls seem to be closing in, they are not because we have a spacious place with God. We have that special place where there is no fear but only God’s love and all he promises us.
Find a way to laugh daily, even if it’s a reel or short you see online. Please share it with a friend because they will enjoy the laugh too. Stay encouraged and know you can do what you have planned; don’t allow outside forces to put off what you can do today and who you will become. Despite everything, I am feeling motivated this year to do things differently to make a change for me and my family.
We will get through this storm, and in the end, there will be love and peace because that is what God is.
