For those DIY crafters who want to express their love through creative projects. This delightful craft combines simplicity with charm, mainly using popsicle sticks, a small wooden crate from Dollar Tree, and sweet embellishments.
You may already have items at home that you can use to complete this project. So, let’s go over the materials needed.
Materials You Will Need:
- Popsicle sticks
- A small wooden crate (available at Dollar Tree)
- Red acrylic paint (available on Amazon)
- Paintbrush
- Embellishments (ribbons, glitter, stickers, etc.)
- Hot glue gun with glue sticks
- Vinyl letters or letter stickers spelling out “KISSES”: Sticker letters and vinyl are available at Dollar Tree. I used my Siser Juliet to cut out the vinyl.
- Hershey’s kisses chocolates or any candy to fill the crate

Steps to Make Your Valentine’s Craft:
- Gather all materials: This is an excellent part for kids to help with. My kids love to gather the materials needed for a craft project. It keeps them busy, and they love to help out.
- Paint Away: Use the red acrylic paint to evenly coat the crate’s exterior (interior -optional) and popsicle sticks. Let them dry thoroughly.
- Assemble: Once the paint has dried, glue three popsicle sticks together for a sign. Then, glue two popsicle sticks vertically to your horizontal sign. Sounds confusing? Check out the video and pics above for clarity!
- Add embellishments: I used some foam heart stickers from last year. Dollar Tree does have foam Valentine’s Day stickers. There is no right or wrong way to decorate. You can get the kids to help add embellishments. Unleash your creativity by adding stickers, ribbon, or glitter!
- Add a name to sign: I added the word “KISSES” because I planned to put Hershey’s Kisses in the crate mostly, and it’s Valentine’s Day themed. No one complains when I add different candies! So add whatever name you would like to.
- Final Touches: Your Dollar Tree Valentine’s craft is ready! Go ahead and add all the candy you want! Buy extra to keep the crate full!
