I will share with you some essential items you can use to make an easy Halloween charcuterie board. Last year I discovered charcuterie boards. Don’t talk about me, I know I was late on this trend!
I found a book on making charcuterie boards at my kid’s book fair (also known as snack boards). They were gorgeous. Before I knew it, I was boarding everything. Now that Halloween is coming up, a themed charcuterie board can be a hit for your party.
This post is all about how to make an easy Halloween charcuterie board.
Charcuterie boards are so easy to do. It is all about laying out a nice variety of foods all in one place. You can pull items that are already in your kitchen and refrigerator and make a nice board.
I wanted to have a delicious spread of food for my annual Halloween party. I made two charcuterie boards. One was a fruit and cheese board, the other was a dessert board.
Here are some items!
1. Wooden Board
The great thing about snack boards is that any shaped board can be used. There are no rules! If you want the wooden look, you can research wooden chopping boards. There are rectangle, square, or circle boards. As well as a variety of sizes.
Depending on the size crowd I will be serving, that’s how I select if I need a big board or small board. Amazon has a variety of sizes, click the link above to check out the rectangle board.
Over time, I have collected circle, rectangle, and square boards. Some are the size for a large gathering; others are small enough for a personal board.
2. Skelton
This is a Halloween snack board you are making, so any type of Halloween props would be good to add. I laid a Skelton across the board and added my snacks on top of the Skelton. This was a great addition to turning my regular board into a spooky charcuterie board.
You can add any Halloween props you can find. Check out dollar tree and dollar general, they tend to have some spooky props for a cheap price.
3. Bowls
Bowls can be used to put a variety of food items. You can use them for candy, sauces, or really anything. You can pick any bowls in any shape or size.
4. Snacks
What’s a snack board with snacks! On my dessert board I added brownies, rice krispes, Halloween candy corn mix (yes it had pumpkins), store bought macarons, twizzlers, cake squares, popcorn balls, and royal icing pumpkin shaped sugar cookies of course. I made the pumpkin shaped sugar cookies to mimic different halloween characters.

5. Royal Icing Eyeballs
If there is one thing that really creeps me out is eyeballs! Especially if it is on something that shouldn’t have eyeballs. I made royal icing eyeball transfers.
Royal icing transfers are made from royal icing and can be used as decorative elements on cookie, cakes, cupcakes, and other sweet treats!
To make these eyeballs, you will need the best royal icing recipe. Make some royal icing in the colors, white and black. The royal icing consistency should be a little thick. Use a piece of parchment paper to make the eyes. Use the white royal icing to make a circle and add a little black for the pupil. Make as many eyes as your heart desires! Let the transfers dry overnight and peel off parchment paper the next day.
Meringue powder is used in the recipe I have listed. You can buy the Wilton brand on Amazon.
6. Candy Melts
Candy melts come in handy when making edible embellishments for desserts. I used some orange-colored candy melts and drizzled over my store-bought rice krispies. Then I added eyes to the rice krispies. The drizzle and eyes made my rice krispies a nice spooky Halloween treat.
Candy melts come in various colors and are sometimes flavored. I have personally bought blue, yellow, pink, green, black, purple, and so on!
7. Wilton Candy Melts Candy and Chocolate Melting Pot
This can make your life easier! If you are using candy melts or chocolate, you must melt them using this Wilton dual candy melt and chocolate pot. This double melting pot is handy, especially if you have two different colors to melt simultaneously.
So there you have my top 6 must-haves to make a Halloween charcuterie board. Your guests will continue talking about your dessert board!
